Our Forest

Trees, parks, and the long record of protecting them.

The forest canopy and the parks system are the slowest-renewing infrastructure North Saanich has. A field can be replanted in a season; a Douglas-fir takes a century. The District has, on the record, repeatedly chosen to protect what it has and to expand what it can. It has done so through tree-protection bylaw work, heritage status for parks, a Natural Asset Inventory, and a climate plan that names the canopy as part of the regional response to a warming climate.
